|Breakfast Discussion with Mr. Shaun K. Roache, IMF Resident Representative in Hong Kong SAR on “Global Financial Stability– Monetary Policy Challenges and Managing Risks”|
The Financial Services Business Council (FSBC) European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong was delighted to host a breakfast discussion on 27th May, 2015, 8:00am-9:45am with Mr. Shaun K. Roache, IMF Resident Representative in Hong Kong SAR.
The event was well-attended by guests which include managing directors, vice-presidents, heads of financial institutions/banks operating in Hong Kong, professionals from the business sector, and members of the European National Chambers of Commerce in Hong Kong.
The roundtable breakfast discussion was inaugurated with opening remarks by Mr. Eberhard Brodhage, Chairman of the Financial Services Business Council, who introduced and warmly welcomed the guest speaker.
This was followed with a presentation by Mr. Roache about the global economic and financial outlook especially with the focus on Europe, China, and the asset management industry. Mr. Roache started by presenting an overview of change in the economic growth: 2015 forecast compared to 2014, and also the emerging market growth excluding China. He gave the participants detailed explanation about the 3 main global financial stability challenges: 1. Global Financial Stability Risks: Rising & Rotating 2. AEs: Monetary Policy Challenges 3. EMs: Buffeted by Global Shocks. He finally concluded the presentation by suggesting ways to enhance policy traction and financial resilience.
The presentation was followed by an open discussion amongst the participants and a lively Q&A session. The event was closed by Mr. Brodhage once again expressing the gratitude to Mr. Roach.
