|Breakfast Seminar: Southeast Asia’s Crossroads: Three paths to prosperity|
The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (ECCHK), and the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EUABC) co-organized a breakfast seminar about “Southeast Asia’s Crossroads: Three paths to prosperity” on Friday, 13th February, 2015 morning at the Hong Kong Club.
There was a great turnout with representatives, professionals and activists from all industries from the legal sector to business sector and members of the European National Chambers of ECCHK and EUABC at the breakfast seminar.
The seminar was inaugurated with opening remarks by Mr. Juha Räisänen, Chairman, European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, who gave a brief introduction of the guest speaker and warmly welcomed the participants.
This was followed with a brief introduction of the EU-ASEAN Business Council by Mr. Donald Kanak, Vice-Chairman, EU-ASEAN Business Council (also Chairman, Prudential Corporation Asia).
Then Dr. Fraser Thompson, Senior Fellow, McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) gave a concise but informative presentation about MGI’s latest research and trends to compete successfully in ASEAN.
Dr. Thompson started by sharing an overview of ASEAN latest development and growth. He explained about the three economic trends that have the potential to create growth and prosperity across ASEAN by 2030: capturing a greater share of global flows, riding the urbanization wave and deploying disruptive technologies.
The presentation was followed by a lively discussion and Q & A session lead by Mr. Christopher Hammerbeck, executive committee member, European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Chairman, British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. The audience actively raised questions and expressed their views.
The event was concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Räisänen. This event was a great success with lots of positive feedback.
